[ARTARMON, 8/1/2018] - Based on a report by the Xinhua news agency, spending by Chinese tourists in Australia has reached a new record. Concord Coaches acknowledges the report that the International Visitor Survey showed that Chinese tourists spent a total of $7.75 billion (US dollars) in Australia in 2017.

Increased Inbound Tourism in Australia

The second biggest source of international visitors in Australia was China with 1.33 million tourists, a little less than those who visited New Zealand with a market of 1.35 million tourists. In total, over eight million tourists travelled to Australia in 2017, where they spent a record $31 billion.

Australia’s Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment, Steve Ciobo stated that Asian tourists have driven the increase in Australia’s inbound tourism sector. He also mentioned another tourism market that has seen consistent growth in Australia is the United States. American tourists grew by 40 percent over the last three years.

New South Wales gained the most from various inbound tourism markets with $7.85 billion spent in the state, which marked a 12 percent increase from 2016.
