Residents and commercial pool owners all across Orange County are ready to open their swimming pools for the season, whether they are in Irvine, Laguna Beach, or the high desert. The temperature is rising, and the sun is shining.. beckoning swimmers to dip their toes into the water, and pay you well for allowing them to do so.
However, with the substantial financial investment that most buyers have in their swimming pools, it is prudent to be certain that you avoid any situations in which even minor damage could occur. Pools are consistently constructed well, and they are designed to brave the elements and provide many seasons of enjoyment. So just be sure to follow a few guidelines to ensure that your pool is ready for that big pool party you may already be planning!
Before you get started, make certain that you have all of the chemicals that you will need before getting too deep into this process. Always check with a professional pool service in Orange County with any questions that you may have, including the use of pool chemical automation. Nothing can be more frustrating to find that you may need to stop in the middle of the job to make another run to your Orange County pool and service center. Also be sure to check any leftovers from last season for expiration dates and faulty seals.
Next, clean the pool cover, deck or patio area, so that any twigs or leaves do not make their way into the pool. Be sure to remove any debris or water from the pool cover. You may use a sump pump or other siphoning devices. Very carefully, remove the pool cover, completely clean it, and then allow it to dry before folding it into a manageable size. Store the cover in a safe, dry place that is protected from rain or moisture.
Always inspect the swimming pool completely, making sure to look carefully for any tears or rips that could be in the liner that can be easily patched. For concrete or fiberglass pools, look for cracks, chips or depressions. Some of these issues may also be repaired yourself, with the expert advice from your trusted pool repair specialist. It is always better to fix any of these issues immediately, rather than to "wait to see" if serious leaking occurs later in the season.
Connect all of the equipment, and make certain to remove all wintering plugs. You may need to drain a bit of the water for unobstructed access. If utilizing a heater, always check with pool heater repair in Orange County if you see anything that could cause a problem down the road. Reinstall the skimmer, hooking up all hoses, and reconnect the filter and the pump.
Now comes the time when you are ready to fill the pool with water with a garden hose. Be sure to fill up to the middle of the skimmer. Always be sure not to over-fill the pool. Many pool owners find that the pool will fill much faster than anticipated, and excess water around the pool from over-filling will make the rest of the process much more difficult.
You will now be able to plug in and start the filter, while looking for any leaks or cracks. If you find any issues with the filtration system, be sure to reach out to your Orange County pool filtration specialist immediately. And don't worry... some problems can turn out to be quick, inexpensive fixes.
Then begin to vacuum the swimming pool carefully. Always try to remove all dirt and debris. Pay extra attention to the corners, where it is easier for build-up to occur.
Allow the new water to mix with the existing contents, anywhere from 24 to 72 hours, dependent upon the remaining dirt left in the swimming pool.
It is now time to test the water in the pool. You can pick up a testing kit with a pool and spa service professional in Orange County, and just to be safe, you may even bring in a water sample for them to test for you.
Now you want to run the filter until the water is clean. This could take several days, depending on the condition of the water when opening the pool. You may even need to clean the filter cartridge during this process.
Be sure to wait to hook up and test any fountains or other water feature equipment until the pool is completely clean.
And now for the moment you have been waiting for, you are now finally ready to drop in the ladder, throw on your suit, and jump in!
Always remember to reach out to your Orange County pool service with any questions that you may have throughout the season.
