Inverter – Uninterruptible Power Supply

Posted September 8, 2021 by JessicaBeak

A power inverter is a power electronic device that convert Direct current to alternative current.

UPS is an Uninterruptible power supply is employed to guard critical loads from utility-supplied power problems, including spikes, brownouts, fluctuation and power outages all employing a dedicated battery. This device allows a computer to keep running for at least a short time when the primary power source is lost. UPS device also provide protection from power surges.

A power inverter is a power electronic device that convert Direct current to alternative current. Direct Current is used in many of the small electrical equipment such as solar power system, since solar cells in only able to produce DC. Other than these fuel cells and other power sources also produce DC.

To protect yourself from power supply interruptions, you need a battery backup. Inverter and UPS are helpful for desktop computers, houses and apartment. In many offices high voltage power system is used as it require more high frequency voltage.

High frequency UPS and Low frequency UPS is a reflected rectifier and transformer. Low frequency UPS is reflected and full bridge inverter, high frequency UPS use rectifier and half bridge inverter.

Pros of high frequency UPS
• Lower Power Consumption
• High input power factor
• Small size, light weight
• Full digital technology
• Small External interference
• Strong ability to adapt to the grid.

Low frequency inverter is designed to deal with higher power spikes for longer periods of time than high frequency inverters. High frequency inverter drives the switches at a frequency closer or higher, thus allowing for a smaller efficient transformer and smaller packages.

Outdoor lighting inverterprovides back-up for lighting during an emergency. This ensures the light stay on during power cut off and allows occupants to find the exits quickly an excavation occur. Inverts also regulates voltage without disturbing your lighting systems running well during normal times.

The UPS is to store the electric supply where inverter converts AC power into DC power. When the power cut off, the UPS immediately switch over from the main supply to the battery. The ups is more expensive than inverter.

First thing you should know before buying an inverter is your Power requirement. Most of inverter technically can be anywhere outside because most inverter are rated as IP56 installing solar inverter not usually void and totally exposed to the elements.

There are three main types of batteries used in uninterruptible power supplies Nickle-Cadmium, Lead-Acid, and Lithium-Ion. Battery backup hardware device uses power supply to computers. Batteries are the most significant part of power supply. Nowadays battery are most demanding industrial environment such as oil, gas, petrochemical, chemical, nuclear industry, and power generation industries. There are many types of inverter and batteries such as

• Compact Central Lighting inverters
• Central lighting Inverter
• High Frequency UPS
• Outdoor Battery Backups

Wireless Battery Monitoring System

• Record battery voltage, measure, string voltage, string Current, cabinet temperature and batteryimpedance.
• Good investment for battery life
• Emergency due to undetected battery failure for back power
