Think about it your organs and internal systems run 24 hours a day 7 days a week nonstop so it isn't surprising that they burn up thousands of calories a day.

 
When people say that someone has a fast metabolism what they are actually saying is that person's body burns a lot of energy, in the form of calories, to fuel the vital internal systems and organs of the body. The opposite is true for those who supposedly have slow metabolisms they don't use quite as much energy to fuel those same systems and organs.

The question is if you are one of those people that have a slow metabolism, will you ever be able to get a body like those with faster metabolisms? Does metabolism even matter at all?! My answer, an emphatic yes to both questions! For those of you with slower metabolism yes, you can get a very lean figure and yes your metabolism is very important. As a matter of fact your resting metabolism is responsible for 60% to 70% of the weight that you will lose on a fat loss program.
