Losing Weight - Why It's Important to Know Your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) - Part 2

Drink lots of water. First of all, water flushes out harmful toxins from the body. But best of all, it is one of the best diet secrets.

Drink water first before eating. This will aid in your digestion and will help you feel full already. And since water is zero calories, you can take as much as you want. Load up on whole grain foods. Whole grain increases your fiber intake and this also aids in your digestion. Choose whole grain bread instead of white bread. For breakfast, whole grain cereal is a good substitute to corn flakes or chocolate cereals.

Refrain from eating out. When you eat at fast food chains, you do not know the ingredients included in what you are eating. When you plan your meals at home, you can control the sugar or salt that goes in your food. Most of the time, those people who get food from fast food chains gain more weight than those who eat home-cooked meals.

Don't forget to snack. Don't go without healthy food for more than 4 hours. Snacking is a good way to keep your metabolism running like a well-oiled motor. Stock your pantry or your refrigerator with healthier snack choices such as dried fruits and nuts. You can also get some good healthy recipes online. Eat slowly. When you gobble your food up fast, you do not really savor the flavour of the food and it leaves you feeling unsatisfied. When you do eat slowly, your taste buds can get their fill of the food you are eating and you are more likely to feel satisfied in just a half serving of food.
