British businessman, Jeremy Priestley, believes in giving back to his community

Jeremy Priestley is a successful businessman, the founder of a number of turnaround and receivables companies, but he still has time to give back to charities. Among the charities he supports are the Daffodil Ball and South Yorkshire’s Community Foundation. Giving back to Sheffield, his home town, is important to him, and he enjoys supporting junior cricket teams in the local area as well as charities.

The Daffodil Ball is a springtime event which has been held since 1990. It helps to raise funds for The Children’s Hospital Charity, and was started by couple David and Jean Fyfe. Since its conception, it has raised over £1,000,000. Each year the fundraiser focuses on a different goal for a children’s hospital in the United Kingdom. For example, they may focus on a new Burns Unit, setting a goal to raise funds to renovate and buy new equipment.

South Yorkshire’s Community Foundation is a foundation dedicated to supporting groups which help South Yorkshire’s communities. Over £25,000,000 have been raised by the group and used to boost the groups which have a positive impact on communities. It is one of many charities focused on the concept of ‘local help for local people’, which essentially involves giving back to the community in which you reside. Whether it’s an association for football or a new health initiative, if it benefits the community, South Yorkshire’s Community Foundation will fund it with the help of benefactors like Jeremy Priestley.

Jeremy Priestley supports junior cricket teams because he wants to “develop young players”. Cricket is a popular sport, but it still needs financial assistance to ensure longevity. Grassroots teams need help for uniforms and equipment, so that children and adolescents can begin to enjoy the sport with the same benefits as wealthier teams.

Jeremy Priestley gives back to the British community through many different charities. For business people like him, it is important to give back to where they came from to inspire new growth and talent in the region. He grew up in Sheffield and has returned there to work, and his support of the local area as well as of wider English charities shows his pride in his hometown.
