Sitting inside the well of your hip and lower spinal column is the psoas major muscle, among the two muscles that makes up the iliopsoas.

It’s often called the "mighty" psoas (pronounced so-az) for your many important functions it takes on in the movement of your body.

Your psoas is the only muscle in the human body connecting the upper body on the lower body.

The muscle attaches to the bones of the lower spine, moves from the pelvis and connects with a tendon at the top of the femur. What's more, it attaches to the diaphragm, so it’s linked to your breathing, and upon it sits all the major organs.
