This press release's focus is Centennial College's Advanced Television and Film - Script to Screen program, which involves not only script writing but also pre and post-production and much more.

Centennial College's Advanced Television and Film - Script to Screen program offers actors, writers, directors, producers, editors and other film and television craftspeople a well-rounded perspective of the TV and film industry.

While it is partially a script writing program, Centennial College's offering also includes a comprehensive, in-depth and hands-on understanding of what goes into developing and producing quality feature films and TV shows.

Split into two semesters, each half of the course has a specific focus that sees students deconstruct classic films, television shows and scripts of all genres. The first semester teaches students how to create, pitch, develop, outline, draft and polish four production-ready film scripts of 10 minutes or less in length. During this time, students attend Screenwriting, Directing, Acting, Production and Post-Production courses.

The second semester, meanwhile, is a chance for students to prepare, perform in, shoot and post the shows they created in the first semester. Students receive advanced instructions in their major and minor areas of craft interest as well during courses such as Short Film Rehearsal and Pre-Production, Short Film Production, Short Film Post-Production and the second part of their first-semester courses.

While other script writing Toronto-based programs have a wide focus, Centennial College's offering focuses solely on dramatic filmmaking. This includes comedy and all the other genres, but excludes documentary filmmaking. Additionally, because the program involves actors, scripts can be tailored to an actor's specific talents. Students are then able to take time and effort to develop scripts in a way that ensures they are of a higher quality than many other student films. In turn, the products that students produce can serve as a key part of gaining a foothold in the business.
