CHUO-KU/TOKYO - Japan Commodity Exploration today announced that production has resumed at its Nogoonnuur Sum mine operation in the North Western tip of Mongolia.

Japan Commodity Exploration has been slowly getting the mine back to minimal production at the Nogoonnuur Sum mine following the implementation of intensive health tests and screenings amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Japan Commodity Exploration’s Chief Operations Officer, Mr. Kiko Hirano commented on the Nogoonnuur Sum mine restart saying “After a chaotic few months, we are finally happy to get back to some sort of normality. We closed the mine in May after health concerns and are gradually getting back to speed. Firstly, we will be operating at minimum capacity and then get into full scale production again.”

“Japan Commodity Exploration’s annual production has dropped by over 50 percent as a result of this pandemic and we will be following all mining operations by implementing stringent protocols to trace, mitigate and limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus,” added Kiko Hirano, Chief Operations Officer of Japan Commodity Exploration.
