Jane Santiago Elgin is a long-time member of the police community and a dedicated mother to two children. She keeps herself in top physical shape and often competes in fitness-related athletic contests.

Jane Santiago Elgin started her career in the Air Force as a military police officer. She is also certified as a commercial helicopter pilot by the FAA. After she got out with an honorable discharge, she became a law enforcement officer in the western suburbs of Chicago where she has worked for the last 24 years.

Jane has worked as a breath operator, a skill in which she is certified by the state of Illinois. She has also worked as an evidence technician for crime scenes and has studied accident reconstruction.

For her work as a police officer, she has received many awards and commendations. Mothers Against Drunk Driving in Kane County gave her an award for her work to keep the highways safe. The Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists has given her two certificates of appreciation. The Kane County Sheriff’s office has given her three Letters of Commendation and the South Elgin Police Department has also given her a Letter of Commendation for her role with a suicidal subject. The same police department also gave her a Meritorious Service Award for her role during an active shooter situation.

Jane Santiago Elgin keeps herself in peak physical condition year-round. She sees it as a way to stay healthy as well as to improve her performance on the job. She bikes, swims, runs and lifts weights and often competes in athletic events such as indoor triathlons and the Illinois Torch Run 5k. One day she plans to compete in the 70.3 Ironman in Ireland.

Jane has traveled to many parts of the world and would like to continue to see even more of it. She has visited Scotland, Wales, London and Italy, as well as Mexico and the Caribbean. One day she hopes to see Ireland for the Ironman event, as well as Cairo and Spain.

An avid reader and life-long learner, Jane Santiago Elgin recognizes that nothing matters as much as family. She is a devoted mother to her two children whom she one day wants to see graduate from college.
