The demand for invoice finance across the country is expected to increase in 2018 by over 21 per cent.

This rise means that the total credit lent to businesses belonging to all sectors by alternative finance companies is expected to be at least £1 billion more compared to that of 2017 (which was £893 million).

These predictions are based on recent findings which show that more than half of the UK SMEs turned down a contract or refused to deliver orders last year due to lack of available finance.

Nucleus predicts that the demand for invoice finance is bound to increase throughout the spring and summer. The UK SMEs on the other hand are most likely to start securing funds between May and August.

A spokesperson at Nucleus said, “A business that aims towards success will start 2018 by matching its methods of borrowing to the asset being financed on which the debt is secured. This would mean that the cash flow finance represents some of the lowest interest rates and most flexible finance approach, which rises and falls with fluctuations in turnover.Any business for this purpose should have sound profit margins; the cost of interest will behave like a variable cost, moving in line with the turnover.”
