Majority of businesses in the UK are expected to increase their costs. According to recently conducted survey, 63 per cent of businesses believe that their costs will increase in the next year due to devaluation of the sterling. Alternatively, about 6 per cent of companies believed that their costs will decrease in the coming year.
About 70 per cent of manufacturers and 71 per cent of business- to-consumer firms expect their costs to rise compared to the other 55 per cent of business-to-business firms.
Moreover, the survey also depicts that many businesses that are trading abroad are leaving themselves exposed to current currency fluctuation risks. Approaximately 46 per cent of the UK businesses are not taking practical steps towards managing currency risks whereas, smaller businesses are said to be implementing measures for managing currency risks. Manufacturers on the other hand have the highest proportion (76 per cent) of businesses managing currency risks compared to the B2C (57 per cent) and B2B (39 per cent) establishments.
The survey even highlights the extent to which increased costs are going to pressurise the businesses which mainly underlines the need to ease the domestic cost of managing a business. Moreover, there comes a need of having secured business funds for businesses to sustain their daily operations.
