Mt. Juliet, TN – 14-February-2023: Assistant District Attorney General Chadwick Jackson filed five additional charges against James Kenton, a local metal roofing contractor after the latter accused him and the state he represented of false imprisonment, false arrest, defamation, and emotional distress, among other crimes. Kenton has called the prosecutor’s latest spate of charges a “blatant retaliation.”

The initial fraud charges against Kenton were based on a complaint by a customer who was in breach of their contract and accused the roofer of stealing $1,000 from them. Neither the complaint nor the reasons for the arrest were backed by solid evidence and were, therefore, dismissed after a year in the Sessions Court.

While Kenton got the land and boat illegally seized by the government back after the state dropped all charges, his reputation was irreparably damaged. Thus began James Kenton vs. The State of Tennessee and Chadwick Jackson and the retaliatory criminal charges against Kenton.

“I ran a thriving business before all this happened,” stated Kenton in a press release. “When the dust settled, I was left with the land and boat that were returned to me. They took everything, from my source of income to the reputation I had built over the years. I didn’t think Jackson could stoop any lower, but he did after filing five more criminal charges against me. He’s being an attorney and a witness in the same case and committing a blatant ethical violation, and he needs to be stopped.”
