Hola Shoes is Part of the "Slow Movement" Advocates Sustainable Manufacturing Respecting People, the Environment, and Animals

The shoe brand uses 20% recycled rubber in all soles

To be dated: According to data, an estimated 24.3 billion pairs of shoes get produced each year, for a mere 7.5 billion individuals. Thus, the footwear that doesn’t sell and the one that gets thrown out add up to millions ending up in the landmines on an annual basis.

Fortunately, the footwear industry is waking up to its waste problem and moving toward more sustainable practices to reduce its carbon footprint. One such company is the kids’ fancy shoe brand Hola Shoes. Unlike, other shoe companies, the proprietor of Hola Shoes launched her brand while keeping sustainability at the forefront.

A worker involved in the production of Hola Shoes said, “We don’t ever get mass orders—it’s very in line with Slow Fashion. Just the bare minimum, no more no less. Then there are the materials that we use to manufacture these kids’ shoes. They’re completely cruelty-free and the soles are 20% recycled rubber, which is such a great contribution to the recycling industry. It also doesn’t hurt that the soles and toe caps are so flexible, they support natural foot growth in kids.”

Since children grow out of their shoes fast due to rapid foot growth, large amounts of their footwear waste get tossed in the landmines every year. Hola Shoes, however, seems to have found the ideal solution to ensure their shoes last longer than the average child’s footwear: soft textile.

Soft material is more flexible, meaning it lasts longer on growing feet, and that’s exactly how the founder of Hola Shoes seeks to reduce her brand’s contribution to the global carbon footprint. As a strong supporter of the Slow Fashion Movement, she also believes that periodic production is the answer to solving the shoe waste crisis. Her logic is simple: “Why make more than you can sell just to cut a few expenses, at a bigger, much graver expense?”

Operating from Spain, the online store caters to children worldwide, offering them a wide range of Jelly Sandals, Balloon Bambas, Easy Sneakers, Fruity Sneakers, and Lace Shoes.

The entire collection is available for viewing and purchase on the company website.
