The Indian Medical Tourism Destinations 2012, the biggest medical tourism conference In Africa, to be hosted for second time in Kenya, Nairobi at KICC from 27-28 August, and first time in Tanzania, Dar-e-salaam at Diamond Jubilee hall from 30-31 August.

The Indian Medical Tourism Destination (IMTD) is a focused effort for people all over the world seeking treatment which demands Quality, Cost-Effectiveness and Specialty.
The event, Is India’s premiere hospitals showcase their facilities and treatments, will have the participation from Doctors, patients seeking treatment abroad, chairpersons of various Medical Association, Sportspersons, Insurance companies, facilitators and Travel Agents.
With medical tourism picking up at a fast pace, the number of patients travelling from Kenya to India is expected to more than double to 50,000 during the current year, compared to the previous year as the cost of treatment in India is as low as a tenth of what is in Kenya. Organised by Trident Exhibitions, the two-day event will be held at Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi, Kenya on August 27-28, and two day event at Daimond Jubilee Hall in Dar-e-salaam, Tanzania.

Held at the Prestigious Metro Convention Centre and a the Conference led by Dr. Narottam Puri (Chairman, NABH ), the Indian Medical Tourism 2009 provided a platform for a majority of the hospitals to create the Indian Healthcare Quality awareness in Canada
The Indian Medical Travel Association, the Indian Embassy in Canada, Ministry of Tourism and Surgical Tourism, Canada joined hands to hold this first ever specialized trade show to promote Medical Value Travel to India. Major exhibitors and presenters at the IMTD 2009 were from all over India . In a message to the organizers, Ms Preeti Saran, Consulate General of India said –

“IMTD 2009 provided a window in the Medical Tourism sector for Canadians looking for affordable, quality and World Class alternatives in healthcare services in India.” The conference team was led by Dr. Narottam Puri, one of the prime cardiologists of India and NABH chairman.

The IMTD 2011 Kenya was a phenomenal success. The event was presented by the Ministry Of Commerce led Services Exports Promotion Council and was supported by the Ministry Of Tourism. The exhibition was graced by some very prominent people in the Healthcare industry and the government such as Dr. Naresh Trehan, MD, Medanta the Medicity, H.E Shree Sibrabrata Tripathi, High Commissioner Of India to Kenya, Hon (Prof.) Anyang Nyongo, Minister Of Medical Services Of Kenya and
The Conference and Exhibition created a stir in the Indian Healthcare Industry. Hospitals from all over the country displayed their services at the exhibition. ‘Brand India” was everywhere, in the press, the local media, in both the countries. Hospitals have reported the inflow of patients has increased since the exhibition.Dr. Naresh Trehan, (MD, Medanta) and Doctor to the President gave a remarkable speech at the event and was one of the noteworthy VIP’s. The Impact of the exhibition was so high that it became national phenomena in Kenya with coverage in almost all leading newspapers.
