All About Pallet racking Storage System

Pallet racking is a storage solution that is widely used in warehouses, manufacturing plants, and distribution centers to organize and store palletized goods.

The use of pallet racking has become increasingly popular due to its ability to maximize space utilization, improve warehouse efficiency, and increase safety.
In this article, we will explore the different types of pallet racking systems, their features, advantages, and disadvantages, as well as some best practices for selecting and using pallet racking.
Types of Pallet Racking Systems
There are several types of pallet racking systems available, each with its unique features and benefits. The most common types include:
1. Selective Pallet Racking Selective pallet racking is the most common type of pallet racking system. It is ideal for storing a large variety of products that require immediate access. Selective racking is also the most flexible type of pallet racking system, as it allows for easy reconfiguration of the storage space to accommodate changing needs. Selective pallet racking works on the principle of storing pallets on horizontal beams that are supported by vertical uprights. Pallets can be easily accessed from both sides of the rack, and the racking can be adjusted to accommodate different pallet sizes.
2. Drive-In Pallet Racking Drive-in pallet racking is a high-density storage system that is ideal for storing large quantities of homogeneous products. This type of racking system is designed for last-in-first-out (LIFO) storage, which means that the last pallet to be stored is the first one to be retrieved. Drive-in pallet racking works on the principle of storing pallets on horizontal rails that are supported by vertical uprights. The rails are sloped towards the entry point, allowing forklifts to drive into the rack and deposit pallets on the rails. The rails are designed to support the weight of the pallets, and the pallets are pushed back as new pallets are added.
3. Push-Back Pallet Racking Push-back pallet racking is a high-density storage system that is similar to drive-in racking, but with some key differences. Push-back racking is designed for first-in-last-out (FILO) storage, which means that the first pallet to be stored is the last one to be retrieved. Push-back pallet racking works on the principle of storing pallets on wheeled carts that are supported by horizontal rails. The carts are pushed back as new pallets are added, and the carts roll forward as pallets are retrieved.
4. Pallet Flow Pallet Racking Pallet flow pallet racking is a high-density storage system that is ideal for storing large quantities of homogeneous products. This type of racking system is designed for first-in-first-out (FIFO) storage, which means that the first pallet to be stored is the first one to be retrieved.
Pallet flow pallet racking works on the principle of storing pallets on sloped rails that allow gravity to move pallets towards the front of the rack. The rails are supported by vertical uprights, and the pallets are loaded onto the top of the rack. As new pallets are added, the pallets behind them are pushed forward towards the front of the rack.
