Are you planning an ISO audit for your company but interested to check a few things about it beforehand? Then, here is your cue.

There are a number of misconceptions among people regarding the term ‘audit’. Many feel that audits are intended to expose the scams going on in a company. Overall, an audit is enough to destroy the reputation and the ranking of an enterprise.

All this is just misconception and misleading speculation. The primary objective of an audit is much deeper. It is done in order to make sure that every process in a firm is working as per the industry guidelines. Audits assess the processes and the authenticity of the brand within the market.

The definition of ISO audit is almost similar; it says that this audit is a systematic and unbiased examination in order to determine whether the quality managing activities and the results are complying with the planned arrangements and also whether the arrangements are being applied effectively or not. Every company has dedicated objectives; ISO audit makes sure that the objectives are fulfilled properly. Below, are a list of things that are checked during this audit process.

Verification of the management system to check whether it is in compliance with the ISO standard or not.

If there was any existing problems within the management system, then an ISO audit verifies whether the problem has been resolved and addressed or not.

Suggesting improvements.

This audit also ensures that the organization is meeting the quality objectives.

There are basically 3 primary ISO audits. Below, we have discussed all of them in brief.

1. First Party Audit: This is popularly known as internal audit. This audit is generally conducted by the trained staff of an organization. If an enterprise lacks the internal resource, then people from outside companies are also hired.

2. Second Party Audit: It is known as a supplier audit where the audit is performed by senior auditor or lead auditors within an organization. Same like internal audit, this is done by internal staff; if resources are not present, outside companies do so.

3.Third Party Audit: This is actually certification audit which is performed by Certification Body Auditor. This is done in order to get a certification from ISO body.

It is necessary for every company to conduct such audits at planned intervals to make sure that the quality management system is working as per the guidelines.
