Here are more rumours around the iPhone 6. Apple’s next-gen device will feature a new set of sensors. This piece of news comes from 9to5Mac’s Mark Gurman who has pointed out some code in iOS 8 suggesting the upcoming iPhone will have both a barometer and air pressure sensors. Now, this latest rumour isn’t something new as a slew of existing Androids already come with a barometer sensor including the Galaxy Nexus.
A barometer is a sensor used to measure altitude. This will be a great add-on for hikers, mountain climbers, bike riders, and so on. Along with the air pressure sensor, it will also help measure temperature and weather information. Apple is also working on an updated version of the Compass application for altitude tracking, adds the report.
It was an obvious choice for Apple to include support for barometer and air pressure sensors, considering it unveiled fitness tracking HealthKit at the recent WWDC event. The company is betting big in the health and fitness field, and is also expected to churn out its rumoured and highly-anticipated iWatch by the end of the year.
Google is also rumoured to be working on Google Fit that is expected to be unveiled at the I/O next week. Until now, users had to rely on the hordes of apps present in the app store, but now the new code reveals a new framework for dedicated tracking that some developers believe it would also require new Apple hardware, according to a report by BGR.
Though Apple has been tight lipped about its upcoming iPhone, a lot has already been said and written about the device. Latest rumours have been suggesting that the iPhone 6 will hit stores on September 19. Here’s all you need to know about iOS 8, and you can also check out our iPhone 6 rumour-roundup.
