Through its Your Old Bed for Something Bedder Photo Contest, Bedding Stock invites Americans to take a photo of their old mattress, post the photo on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest using the hashtag #BedderSleep and comment why they need to replace it with our memory foam mattress.

“Just like any product, mattresses wear out in years,” Bedding Stock co-founder Steve Berke said. “Studies show that the ideal lifespan of mattresses is seven to eight years. If yours is more than eight years or if you already experience inconveniences in your bed while sleeping that you have not encountered before, we recommend to replace it.”

According to the Better Sleep Council, a mattress used for more than seven years can contribute to aches, pains, numbness, and stiffness in the back, neck and other areas of the body. Other health experts also warned that worn-out mattresses and pillows can also become breeding grounds for bacteria, insects, and other organisms that can lead to diseases.

From February 10 to March 31, 2016, Bedding Stock accepts contestants for Your Old Bed for Something Bedder Photo Contest. The contest winner—which will be announced on April—will take home a Bedding Stock mattress worth $300.

“Bedding Stock recognizes the need to change your old mattress to prevent health problems. That’s why we came up with a contest to give any Americans a chance to win a new mattress as well as inform people of the dangers of sleeping in a bed with a worn-out mattress,” added Berke.
