Breast cancer is a known major health concern for women and though there are treatments, there has not been a most effective one. But that was years before because a more precise and more accurate mammography testing is now available due to advanced technology. With this new technique, women is able lower their risk of getting breast cancer as they age.
There are, however, some breast tissue characteristics which make it difficult for identification and treatment of breast cancer’s earliest stages. These characteristics include parenchymal bands, distorted architecture, microcalcifications, tissue redistribution as well as some postsurgical changes.
The traditional procedure in dealing with this is reduction mammoplasty and but it involves cutting of the skin and tissue of the breast which is distinctive and has been termed as “anchor” scar. After surgery, it is important to consider cosmetic surgery especially for those women who don’t like to have such noticeable scar. On the other hand, Dr Yoho has proven that there is a different method that can achieve the same bottom line as reduction mammoplasty but without the scar. This can be achieved with the use of lipo surgery instead. In liposuction, the breast fat is removed to reduce the breast size but leaving only minimal scarring to the skin and breast tissue. Some women does not mind the scar left after reduction mammoplasty but there are those who are not are now comforted knowing that breast liposuction leaves them only 4 to 6 small incisions. More so, these incisions are only about 3 to 4mm in diameter which is large enough for the liposuction cannula to go through the skin towards the breast tissue.
Women also take comfort in the fact that breast liposuction does not need breast tissue or skin excision. This means that the natural breast structure of a woman is not much disrupted and that postsurgical changes are almost absent in this procedure. Dr Yoho has had a case study about the benefits of breast liposuction involving a healthy, 55-year old woman who requested a breast liposuction.
The woman tolerated the procedure well and benefited from significant decrease in her breast size. Then after a week, a month and 3-month intervals, the woman was able to recover without any incident. Eleven months after the lipo surgery, there was not any evidence of postsurgical changes to her breast tissues. This clearly means that Dr Yoho’s breast liposuction is successful and safe alternative for reduction mammoplasty.
