On the eve of Ukrainian Film Festival “Ukraine on Film: Way to Freedom”, which soon will in Amsterdam, in Kiev news agency "Ukrinform" held a thematic press conference.
The event was attended by the organizers of the Ukrainian Cinema Days: Philip Ilyenko - Head of the Ukraine State film Agency, Maria Betza - the speaker of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign affairs, Tagir Imangulov - PR-director of the Igor Iankovskyi Foundation "Initiative for the Future". It is also made by the representatives of films included in the program: Anton Baybakov - composer of the soundtrack for the film "Eleventh", Marina Orekhova - producer of the movie "Russian Woodpecker" and Lina Klebanova - producer of the film "Winter is in the fire." Event was moderated by Denis Ivanov, General Director of the company "Arthouse Traffic".
The Ukrainian Cinema Days will be held in Amsterdam on the eve of the referendum on Ukraine's association with the European Union, to be held in the Netherlands at 2016.
The concept of the festival - featuring documentary films telling about the landmark event for Ukraine: from classic silent movies, avant-garde masterpiece "Eleventh" by Dziga Vertov to hit international film festivals, winner of Sundance "Russian Woodpecker" Chad Grasii and Oscar nominee "Winter is in the fire," by Evgenyi Afineevsky.
Philip Illyenko, Head of the Ukrainian State Film Agency said: "We spend a lot of Ukrainian cinema mini-festivals in European capitals. Festival in the Netherlands is particularly important because we are talking about the image of Ukraine in the eyes of the ordinary citizen of the Netherlands, who will vote at referendum. Cinema – is the best way to show for the Dutch our goals and direction of development. Our challenge is to prove to themselves and the Europeans that Ukraine is worthy of this partnership".
Mariana Betz, Speaker of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine: "The referendum in the Netherlands was initiated by the so-called euro sceptics. Ukraine is not subject to the will of this referendum, so the main mission is entrusted to the Dutch side and activists. MFA also provides the diplomatic assistance to non-governmental organizations that promote a positive image of Ukraine. We support a range of activities, among which the Ukrainian cinema Days at the forefront".
