Hyatt Regency Kathmandu has taken a step ahead for supporting the Flood Victims

Kathmandu, Nepal (Sep 2014) – The recent incessant rainfall set off heavy flooding and landslides in the far-west regions of the country that have claimed many lives. Numerous families have been displaced and a lot of them are still missing. In response, many business organisations, NGOs and INGOs have contributed. The government of Nepal has also created a bank account under the name “Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund”. Interested individuals or organizations can use this fund to support victims by simply depositing money into the account, from which the funds will be distributed to the victims directly.

Being a part of the community, we at Hyatt Regency Kathmandu feel equally obliged to pledge wherever possible. Hence, all employees of the hotel have contributed a half-day’s salary towards supporting the flood victims. Along with some personal contributions from a few employees, the hotel has raised a lump sum of NPR 2,00,257, which has been deposited into the relief fund bank account (No. 00101102200012) maintained at Everest Bank Limited.

We have also donated 22 blankets to the campaign #FillTheBucket, a citizen led initiative to assist the disaster survivors. The campaign has gathered an overwhelming response, with many people contributing daily necessary items to “fill the bucket”.

Details about the campaign can be found on its official Facebook page (facebook.com/FillTheBucketNepal).
