Resounding Success for Classic Hospitality

Posted August 21, 2014 by HughDoubtfire

The 2014 Cheltenham Festival proved yet another resounding success for Classic Hospitality with over 1,000 guests in facilities across the racecourse,

all experiencing the very best hospitality and service – and some even having their picture taken with the 2010 Gold Cup on the Friday!

The weather provided a huge bonus from a visitor point of view, enhancing everyone’s enjoyment of this four day feast of National Hunt racing.

With two steam trains running from Toddington on every day, transporting nearly 2,000 spectators across the week on a nostalgic journey directly into the back of the racecourse, guests were treated to the perfect start to their day at the races. Our excellent band were in full voice playing, amongst other things, a specially-penned ‘Cheltenham-style’ adaptation of Petula Clark’s ‘Downtown’. Champagne flowed on the platform as travellers prepared to board the train and the whole Toddington experience offered a relaxed opener to the day’s proceedings.

New for 2014 was our special coach transfer from Moreton-in-Marsh station taking racegoers arriving from Paddington on a seamless journey from London into the racecourse. Despite this being the first year of running the coach alongside the steam train, everything went off remarkably smoothly and the arrangement looks set to be repeated next year.

Cheltenham never fails to produce memorable finishes and unexpected results and 2014 proved to be no different. There were many highlights over the four days, but the race of the Festival was probably the Champion Hurdle, won by Jezki. How different the outcome might have been if Our Connor hadn’t fallen and hampered The New One, who still went on to finish so strongly. The Gigginstown House Stud ended the week on a unique high with its 82,653/1 four-timer as Savello completed the job Tiger Roll, Very Wood and Don Poli started on Gold Cup Day.

Join us again in 2015 for yet another amazing Festival week.
