Houyi PowerGen will be one of the first companies to make any acquisition of solar projects in Africa and the potential for the generation of photovoltaic energy in Africa is gaining traction.

Houyi PowerGen’s African assets will include the development of photovoltaic power plants under operation with high installation capacities. The projects will aim to bring a generating capacity of 2.6-2.9 GW by mid-2022, enough to supply the average consumption of over 2 million households. The solar projects will also contribute to a more-green environment by reducing emissions of CO2.

Houyi PowerGen’s Chief Technology Officer commented on the acquisition saying “This is a major step for Houyi PowerGen in our commitment to move towards a low-carbon economy. This acquisition underpins Houyi PowerGen’s diversified portfolio in renewable energy and strategic global growth.”

Houyi PowerGen’s Chief Technology Officer also added “The development and construction of the solar projects will have a total value of US$11.9 million by 2022. We strongly believe that this acquisition will allow the integration and development and a worldwide leader in project implementation of a state-of-the-art solar power portfolio that will speed-up our growth in the renewable energy industry.”
