Houston Bernard was born in Oklahoma, descended from Wild Bunch outlaw George Bittercreek Newcomb, nicknamed the Slaughter Kid, and his Cherokee wife Lisa Flowers who married in 1868 and produced 11 children. Bernard himself lived a traveling childhood, growing up in Alaska, Massachusetts and New York City, honestly come by through the profession of his father. Fashioned as The Rebel Brothers, Bernard’s father and uncle toured the United States throughout the 70’s and 80’s, encountering major lights of the country music scene like Elvis Presley, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson and others. The Rebel Brothers played in bands with the likes of Tanya Tucker and Sleepy Labeef.

Houston Bernard honors those star-studded performance beginnings today through his Houston Bernard Band, a popular and in-demand country and rockabilly group which offers eminently danceable party tunes with country and rockabilly ballads and standards. The Houston Bernard Band is experiencing an ever rising trajectory of success, with a name on the ballot of the 2014 Grammys and nominations from the New England Music Awards.

Never a one trick pony, Houston Bernard has also parlayed his United States Army Master Fitness Trainer designation, and his National Academy of Sports Medicine certification in a manifestation of his entrepreneurial spirit known as Mass Mobile Massage. Established in Boston, Massachusetts in 2008, Mass Mobile Massage boasts a therapy staff of over 25 licensed and insured massage specialists who offer on-location table and chair massages for hotels, work, spa parties, trade shows and other special events. Mass Mobile Massage is also a vendor for the Lenox Hotel, Charles River Kayak and Hyatt Boston and Cambridge. Mass Mobile Massage has personally trained their team of vetted and screened massage professionals.

Houston Bernard attended Worcester State University and earned a Bachelors Degree in Communications, in addition to his Medical Massage Practitioner Certification and certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Bernard’s dedication to physical training and fitness is evidenced through his continued fitness training, participation in the Boston Marathon in 2010, and leisure time basketball play.
