More than half of Britons prefer long-haul holidays. A survey of over 2000 people revealed that only about 35 percent favor two-week long vacations. A major roadblock for holidaying for many Brits is the high cost of vacation and travel.

At the beginning of the year, Holidayers.com did a research to reveal the breaks that Brits are expecting to take based on their booking and plans for the next trips. The study, which was carried out by travel specialists shows that over one half of people (52 percent), love holidays and would not mind hoping on long-haul flights to holiday destinations. Further, 65 percent of Brits plan on taking a long-vacation trip at least two times this year. Over one in every ten Britons (13 percent) hopes to take four plus holiday breaks in 2018.

The specialists further revealed their findings on the holiday destinations that Brits prefer. Their findings show that a quarter of those who love to travel will choose their destination of choice to be anything ‘sun, sea and sand’. This is reflected in the fact that many people booked destinations in Canary Islands as their top preferred destination closely followed by Spain.

Cost was a major factor of consideration when selecting both the break and the destination of choice. Only a quarter of the study population revealed that they traveled in search of new cultural experiences and to sample foreign cuisine. About five percent picked their destination based on the days of vacation and available family attraction.

Another study subject revealed that nine percent (one in 10 Brits) revealed that they felt it would be great to go cold turkey while on holiday. They felt that a digital detox break would reduce their stress levels besides other health benefits.

The research was carried out at a time when forecast predictions suggest digital detoxes as a key trend amongst holidaymakers this year. Disconnecting from “the world” for a minute, according to the respondents, allows one to recharge their batteries so they become more productive when they go back to their day-to-day life.

It is not surprising however that about 30 percent of the study population recorded no significant enjoy a digital detox. This population proclaimed that they needed apps to enjoy their holiday while others said they stored some of their travel documents on their mobile gadgets. They therefore felt it was almost impossible to detach from electrical gadgets even on long vacations.

Asked to comment on the findings form the research, a travel expert at Holidayers.com aid “we undertake regular polls as part of our customer satisfaction study.
