Starting with, for text and logos, an engraved text is better than embossed text as this means less material is removed. Choosing engraved over embossed will save you both time and money. Text size should be at least 5mm high, 0.8mm deep and there should be at least 0.5mm clearance between letters. Following these guidelines will help with the legibility and visual impact of your machined text.”

For CNC machining there are many simple design rules to follow that generally will not affect the overall look or functionality of the design but will result in better parts. Try to keep the hole depth to diameter ratio at 10:1 or less to make for easy machining. Anything thicker than this could require a deep hole drilling process step.
