Marlena’s ship’s store and tackle shop serves fishermen, boat enthusiasts, and professional captains and crews. The store is equipped with fishing tackle, boat supplies, bait, clothing and apparel. In addition, its staff is dedicated to assisting their customers with all their boating needs.

After a day of fishing, anglers can stop in for a drink at Marlena’s Pack Out, formerly Liars Saloon. The bar, which is leased out to and operated by Hali Devlin and Phil Baigent, offers a variety of beers and mixed drinks.

In 2022, Sam Gershowitz, Owner of Sam’s Star Island Yacht Club & Marina, purchased the former Liars Saloon property after it closed in 2021. Liars was a popular dive bar that opened in 1978 and was best known for its $1 draft beers, famous mudslides, and karaoke nights. Its diverse clientele consisted of fishermen, surfers and out-of-towners.

Mr. Gershowitz and his team renovated the property and turned it into an extraordinary East End boating destination in honor of his late wife, Marlena, who passed away in September.

“I already own a marina with Sam’s Star Island and I always wanted to own another one,” said Mr. Gershowitz, an avid fisherman. “That is when I saw the Liars property, and I decided to buy it. Marlena’s is the ideal destination for fishermen and boaters. I also wanted to create a high-quality establishment that would be a fitting honor for my late wife, Marlena, who was the biggest catch of my life.”
