HUNTINGTON, NY — Huntington Republican Committee Chairman Thomas M. McNally has filed a supplemental complaint with the New York State Board of Elections, accusing Town Board Member Brooke Lupinacci, along with Eugene Cook and John Posillico, of multiple, willful violations of state campaign finance laws.
This latest filing, submitted to the Office of the Independent Enforcement Counsel, outlines a broad pattern of non-disclosure, late filing, and likely concealment of fundraising activity related to the political action committee Save Huntington 2025, which supports the three candidates.
“Brooke Lupinacci, a sitting elected official, has clearly violated campaign finance disclosure laws and continues to do so,” said McNally. “She behaves as if she is above the law.”
Key Allegations and Evidence:
Undisclosed Fundraiser: On April 10, 2025, Lupinacci, Cook, and Posillico held a fundraiser with sponsorship levels up to $1,000. No contributions from that event were disclosed.
Late and Inaccurate Filings: Lupinacci and Save Huntington 2025 filed a disclosure report on June 11, three weeks late, which omits the fundraiser proceeds and shows glaring inconsistencies in expenses.
No Filing At All: Cook and Posillico have not submitted any disclosures. It remains unclear if Posillico has even established a campaign account.
Treasurer Accountability: The committee’s listed treasurer, James Clark, was paid $500 for bookkeeping and is legally responsible for the accuracy of the report under election law.
Exhibits Provided: McNally submitted the event flyer and photographs of the April fundraiser as evidence of unreported contributions.
“These aren’t clerical errors. This is a clear, deliberate effort to hide the truth from the voters,” McNally stated.
Double Standards and Unfounded Accusations
Lupinacci and her allies have spent months launching unsubstantiated allegations of criminal and unethical behavior against Supervisor Ed Smyth.
“They accuse Supervisor Smyth without a shred of proof,” said McNally. “Meanwhile, Lupinacci, Cook, and Posillico have been ignoring the very laws they expect others to follow.”
Contrast with Republican-Endorsed Candidates
McNally noted that the Republican-endorsed candidates — Ed Smyth, Dr. Dave Bennardo, and Greg Grizopoulos — have each filed complete and timely financial disclosures, demonstrating full compliance with state law.
“Transparency and accountability are non-negotiable. Voters can trust Republican-nominated candidates who play by the rules and respect the law,” McNally said.
Call for Enforcement
McNally’s complaint calls for:
A formal investigation into Save Huntington 2025 and its supported candidates
Subpoenas for financial records
Civil or criminal penalties
Immediate correction and public disclosure of all unreported contributions
