Everest Gokyo Lake Trekking – Everest Gokyo Ri Trekking

A best trekking package in Nepal which is the combination of Everest Base Camp, Gokyo Valley and Gokyo Lakes is Everest Gokyo Lake Trekking. Gokyo Valley.

Gokyo Lake is located west of the Everest (Khumbu) valley and far less developed and crowded than its better known neighbor to the east. If you choose Gokyo Lake Trekking then after the trek to Everest Base Camp the extra distance only adds a another four to five days to the itinerary. There are two options one is Gokyo Valley Trek or Gokyo Lake Trek and Gokyo Lake Trek with Everest Base Camp Trek.
If Gokyo Lake Trekking is the ultimate destination rather than Everest Base Camp then Everest trail is followed from Kenjoma . From here Everest Gokyo Lake Trails climbs up the hillside to pass Mong La before dropping steeply back down to the banks of the Dudh Koshi. After two hours trekking through the beach, trekkers explore rhododendron and oak forest, past waterfalls which are often frozen and thorough pine forest. Hikers pass the Machherma . The final place up to Gokyo takes you past the teahouse at Pangkha and up the terminal moraine of the Ngozumpa glacier, the largest glacier in Nepal. After some hiking the moraine is the first of the glacial lakes for which Gokyo is renowned. The trail passes two more lakes to reach the tea houses of Gokyo about four to five hours after leaving Machherma. The Gokyo Valley is dominated at its head by the massive from Cho Oyu (world eight highest peak : 8153 m) . There are two high passes leading out of the Gokyo Valley : Chola Pass , which connects with the Khumbu valley near Lobuche and another is the Renjo La Pass that joins the trail between Thame and Nangpa La.
If hikers want to visit Gokyo Lake Trek with Everest Base Camp Trek, it is better to trek to Gokyo after visiting Everest, for acclimatization reasons. Follow the Everest Base Camp Trek route described previously and take the alternative exit route as far as Phortse . From here, follow the eastern side of the valley through some isolated settlements, which include the village of Konar, the only permanent settlement above Phortse. This trails climbs, mostly gently , up the valley with some superb views of Cho Oyu in front and Thamserku and Kangtega behind.
