He works sub-sea in construction, repair, maintenance, installation, & inspection both in-shore and off-shore. He maintains the diving equipment such as gauges, masks, and helmets to efficiently perform his job. He inspects the systems in order to determine they are functioning at their optimum level. He uses a wide range of hand and power tools such as welding equipment, drills, and sledgehammer. Being a good swimmer, he is capable of holding his breath for long periods of time. He is proficient in the use of special scuba equipment in case of emergencies.

[b]Gary Shoats[/b] uses his critical thinking when he is underwater. He is responsible for inspecting fully or partly submerged pipelines, cables, and plant outflow or intakes. He is always ready to assist other underwater divers in search, cleanups, and rescue operations. He is capable of setting the correct placements of sandbags or pilings in order to provide support to the structures such as cofferdams, platforms, and docks. He is able to weld as well as cut steel using underwater welding instruments and supports. Gary carries out off shore gas and oil extractions such as repairing, drilling rigs, and conducting underwater surveys. In order to ensure the safety of other crew divers, he makes sure that the diving conditions are absolutely safe.
