Cisco Router Configuration Commands

If you want to see the list of commands, then in the command prompt, type:-
Router>enable
Router#show ?

If you want to change the default name of Router, then think of the Router name and type: -
Router (config) # hostname ABC
ABC (config) #

Note: “ABC” denotes the Router Name.

The router must be Password Protected, so next step is to provide the password and to this, type: -
ABC (config) # line console 0
ABC (config-line) # password XYZ
ABC (config-line) # login

Note:- Here “XYZ” denotes the Password.

In the next part configure the Internet to the Router and to do this, before that few thing you must keep in the mind, the following example is for Telnet and VTY is the standard name of Telnet. The number of connection line is 5 and here it is mentioned 3, so you can adjust the same as per your requirement. Now type: -
ABC (config) # line vty 0 3
ABC (config-line) # password TELCNN
ABC (config-line) # login
ABC (config-line) # exit
ABC (config) #

If you want to disable the Auto Logout feature in the Cisco Router, in simple words, if your connection is in Idle Mode, then it will Logout Automatically, so to disable this type: -
ABC (config) # line console 0
ABC (config-line) # exec-timeout 0 0
ABC (config-line) # exit
ABC (config) #
