[Sandy, 08/13/2015]- Heart to Heart Adoptions, a non-profit adoption agency, assists birth mothers with filing a Mutual Consent Registry to give them the opportunity to be reunited with their birth child when it comes of age. The agency acts as intermediaries in assisting both parties to achieve the arrangement they desire during an adoption process.

The Mutual Consent Registry

A state-run registry is offered in all states that is free from ties with any adoption agency or legal practitioners. The aim of mutual consent is to reunite the birth parents with their children when they come of age.

Applying for mutual consent is completely voluntary and requires the consent of both parties before it can be approved by the state. For Utah, the state-run service allows the reunion only when both parties are in agreement that any of the following information about the birth parent be disclosed to the child:

• The presence of a birth father
• The name of the birth mother

In any case, birth parents have the right to approve the passing of non-identifying information.

For Birth Parents

If the child is born within the state of Utah, the adoption agency will pay and register the birth parent on the Mutual Consent Registry, with the requirement of presenting an original birth certificate.

For Adoptive Parents
Upon agreeing with the terms of the Mutual Consent Registry, adoptive parents are expected and required to inform the adoptive child of the said agreement. When the child turns 18, he or she has the option to be reunited with his or her birth parents.

Further Assistance for Birth Mothers

Heart to Heart Adoptions offers various support services for birth mothers. They are assured of confidentiality and professional advice during the process.

The agency may assist birth mothers with the following:

• Financial support throughout the pregnancy
• Child care during delivery
• Emotional support during labor
• Support and advice when choosing adoptive families
• GED achievement courses

The agency is dedicated to helping birth mothers improve their current situation and connecting adoptive families to a child that is waiting to be a part of a family.
