On Friday, July 1st, 2016 Attorney Jacqueline Bain of the Florida Healthcare Law Firm, leader of the firm’s compliance department, earned a Certification in Healthcare Compliance from the Health Care Compliance Association. The Association exists to champion ethical practice and compliance standards and to provide the necessary resources for ethics and compliance professionals and others who share these principles.
“It is critically important that healthcare businesses promote an attitude of compliance with applicable laws and regulations,” Ms. Bain explains. “The government has been very active in pursuing healthcare businesses that do not take steps to ensure that records are protected, billing and documentation is accurate, and relationships between providers are appropriate. Putting in the time and resources on the front end to develop a compliance plan that works for your business is a smart move. Even inadvertent, non-compliant actions can spell disaster for a business.”

Bain graduated from the State University of New York at Albany magna cum laude and the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School. She is licensed to practice law in Florida and New York, and is admitted to argue in front of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States. She is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association, the Health Care Compliance Association, the Florida Bar (Health Law Section), the New York State Bar Association (Health Law Section).

The Florida Healthcare Law Firm has been helping physicians, other healthcare professionals like chiropractors and many healthcare businesses, such as medical practices, addiction treatment facilities, labs and hospitals navigate complex healthcare laws, construct successful business arrangements and prepare comprehensive compliance plans. The law firm also specializes in helping professionals and businesses get paid by managed care and defend against payer recoupment. Founder Jeff Cohen’s expertise includes business transactions, healthcare business design, and comprehensive plans designed for regulatory compliance and ensuring payer reimbursement.
