Hong Kong has introduced a new residency-by-investment opportunity known as the Capital Investment Entrant Scheme (CIES). This program allows eligible applicants, including foreign nationals and Chinese nationals residing abroad, to obtain residency in Hong Kong by investing a minimum of HKD 30 million. The investment includes HKD 27 million in permissible assets and HKD 3 million into a CIES Investment Portfolio, which supports Hong Kong's economic development.
Hong Kong is an appealing destination due to its competitive tax system, strategic location in Asia, international community, and rich cultural heritage. Applicants must be 18 or older, have a clean immigration record, and demonstrate a net asset value of at least HK$30 million for the two years preceding the application. Dependents can also be included under the applicant's visa.
The application process involves a personal net worth assessment, followed by a 180-day visa to make the investment. After fulfilling the investment requirements, applicants can obtain a 2-year visa, extendable upon meeting conditions, with the possibility of permanent residency after seven years.
