Halmari has set a new record worldwide for its CTC grade tea selling it at a price of 700/kg at the Spring Calcutta auctions. The previous record of 600/kg was also set by the premium tea house in July 2016.

Kolkata based companies like Mahabodh Tea House and J. Thomas & Co. purchased Halmari’s CTC grade where the former bought a whopping amount of 307 kilograms of tea. This tea will be sold at a retail price range of $15 to $30. In general scenarios, this particular brew grade sells for about 5 dollars per kilogram.

“Buyers from all over the globe are splurging on the Darjeeling First Flush grade making the prices bump up to 10% more. Whether it be France, the United Kingdom or Germany, tea buyers have made Darjeeling beat Nepal in the global market,” commented the marketing head of Halmari.

Raju Lama who is a tea exporter in Darjeeling explained the World Tea News regarding how he has been receiving positive responses from the United Kingdom’s, the French and the German buyers.

“We are grateful to the almighty as He has been generous to us. We have experienced sufficient rainfall and adequate sunshine as a result of which our first flush became such an impeccable harvest,” exclaimed a Namring tea estate official to the World Tea News.

Buyers from across the globe have enhanced the entire tea industry especially in Japan, China and Sri Lanka who were experiencing unfavorable market previously. However, owing to the sudden upsurge in aromatic and full-bodied tea production, the scenario has changed.

Halmari being at the top of the game currently feels ecstatic about their new conquest. D.K. Arora, the General Manager of the tea garden, talked about their record-breaking endeavor. “Our current batch which was sold at the spring tea auctions experienced extremely favorable weather conditions for a fortnight. The perfect combination of sunlight and rainfall had been a great incentive at producing one of the finest grades of tea protruding a rich flavor”.

The purchasing company, J. Thomas & Co gushed about their latest buy at the auctions where they have named Halmari’s grade as a “phenomenal” brew. Krishan Katyal, the chairman and managing director, talked about how Halmari has been the undoubted king of an excellent grade of First Flush Tea.

Halmari broke its own record auctions and now plans to set a new world record again in the upcoming years.
