Skin Protection Tips

It is your largest body organ, and in a way, your skin makes you, you.

While the skin cells regenerate all the time, destroying your skin isn’t an option even if you expect it to grow back – sometimes, the damage is irreparable. It is worse if you bring it all upon yourself.

So, since you need your skin to face the world, how do you keep it safe from external factors like the sun and dust, and how do you ensure that you don’t get unexplained breakouts?

. Apply sunscreen, often

20 to 3o minutes before exposure (even in winter), apply sunscreen and allow the skin to absorb it. If you are outdoors for hours, reapply sunscreen once every two hours. You should, however, pick the right sunscreen for your skin type. While at it, limit exposure to the sun

. Choose your face mask carefully

You may not have every weekend to apply a face mask but when you do, use a face mask that protects, cleans and leaves your skin feeling healthier. Whether you are using a hydrating face mask or a brightening face mask, read about the ingredients. Opt for facial masks with natural ingredients because they are safe and gentle.

. Stay hydrated

You need water for general good health and healthy looking skin. Hydrated skin is plump, but a dry skin has small pores which act as gaps that allow entry of fungus and bacteria. To prevent infections which cause acne and other skin conditions, drink water.

. Eat well

Beauty is skin-deep. Eat foods rich in antioxidants, proteins, and vitamins to enhance skin health.

Also, keep stress levels down, and don’t sleep with makeup.
