Arniston is a seaside village in the Overberg region on the Cape South coast, close to Cape Agulhus, the southernmost tip of Africa where the Indian and Atlantic oceans meet. It is also known as Waenhuiskrans (wagon house cliff), which is the name derived from the breath-taking tidal cave that one can visit at low tide. The quaint village of Arniston is like an oasis for urbanites whose eyes are exhausted by the sight of the dire city walls, and the noise and pollution that encompasses them daily in the urban areas. Spoiling visitors not only with beauty and fresh air, but also a hush that falls over the village, it gifts visitors with all the quietude they desire. This can be experienced the moment you step out of theguest house; a casual breeze sets the day.

The Arniston coastline is significant to the time when the Khoisan travelled the cliffs with their fishing traps. Fish bones and broken shells remain where they set up these traps, and are the only recaps of their presence in the village. The Mediterranean climate sets warm summers, though temperatures are mild throughout the year, with average midday temperatures fluctuating between 18°C to 25°C, hence most self-cateringguest houses and other accommodations fit in an ideal location. The rustic villagehas many accommodation options.
