Have you heard about the Affordable Care Act that will have most of its major provisions being put in practice at the beginning of 2014 ? Do you know the benefits that you and the other American citizens have from this health reform ? If not, you should definitely start looking for information to fully understand the benefits of this major health care reform. All of the rules stated by this act would not have been possible without the individual mandate, which require most Americans to have health insurance, in order to make the health reform law functionable. If you do not have health insurance, you are required to pay a certain amount of money in exchange for your non-compliance.

Many people are skeptical when it comes to this individual mandate, but do they really know what does this actually mean ? When they hear that they are obliged to have health insurance or face a penalty otherwise, they tend to believe that this is just another method invented by the U.S. government in order to take money from them. Actually, this is not true, because the government has no other intention than to help the Americans have health insurance in case they face a serious illness that needs to be taken care of with a certain treatment or an expensive surgery, which most of them could not pay from their own salary or savings.

The Affordable Care Act or, by its full name, The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act represents one of the most important health reforms which has been created and accepted by the U.S. government. This reform dates from 2010 and even if some of the provisions have taken effect since then, the most important ones will be effective in the year of 2014. After the 1st of January, everyone who lives in the United States of America should find a health insurance plan which will provide coverage for them in case something bad and unexpected happen to them, such as a car accident or a heart attack.

People should know the fact that this Affordable Care Act is beneficial for most of the citizens from America. The individual mandate wil affect only those people who are not willing to have health insurance, because they need to pay some penalties for their decision. If you already benefit from health insurance, it does not mean that after this reform becomes effective you need to look for new insurance. If you have obtained health insurance from your employer or through specific programs such as the Children’s Health Insurance Program, Medicare or Medicaid, you only need to specify this when you complete your taxes forms.

To sum up, lots of people believe that the Affordable Care Act http://individualmandate.com/blog/affordable-health-insurance-plans-are-just-around-the-corner is the best health reform adopted in America in a very long period of time because it aims to a more organized health insurance system, in which most of the Americans have coverage and the costs implied by the health care are significantly reduced, with the help of the individual mandate http://individualmandate.com/ .
