Gilbert Starleigh discusses the importance of his work with those recovering from drug and alcohol addiction.

Gilbert Starleigh has worked counseling others for several years through several organizations. He has worked with youth and adults at various church rehabilitation programs. Gilbert Starleigh has worked for 19 years with those who are struggling with drug and alcohol addiction. “Working with people during this difficult time in their lives is important, but often difficult,” Gilbert Starleigh says, “You’re asking a stranger to let you into their lives and into their minds so you can help them most fully understand and solve the reasons for their addiction.”

Gilbert Starleigh has helped people through state, private, and religious affiliated programs. He has worked under the direction of Dr. Laura Bedard, a past professor of Florida State University and past Director of the Florida Department of Corrections. Gilbert Starleigh learned much from his work with her. Gilbert Starleigh has clearance from the Florida Department of Corrections for any prison in the state of Florida.

Gilbert Starleigh is passionate about the work he does with those struggling with addiction. “Helping those that are struggling with such a serious problem is helpful to our entire society,” say Gilbert Starleigh. In area where he has so much experience, there is still much for Gilbert Starleigh to learn. When working with something as emotional as addiction, every person has to be approached differently and worked with differently. Gilbert Starleigh knows the importance of his initial approach, and how quickly a person can shut down if approached in a way that makes them uncomfortable.

Gilbert Starleigh is proud of the lives that he has been able to change, and most likely save, through his work to help people struggling through recovery from addiction. Gilbert Starleigh has worked through every step of the process, from the initial withdrawal to working at a transitional house for those getting ready to continue their drug-free journeys on their own.

Gilbert Starleigh works to make himself available to any organization that is looking for a substance abuse counselor who uses Christ-based programming to help others recover from their addictions. Gilbert Starleigh is willing to do pro bono work as well; his priority is helping those that need help.
