Gilbert Fontenard began his journey into civil engineering when he started studying the subject in the mid-1980s, graduating with his Bachelor of Science in 1989. He has gone on to receive two Masters degrees and worked for a number of public sector organizations, such as the Saint Lucia Air and Seaports Authority and the Ministry of Communication and Works in Saint Lucia before becoming the Managing Director and Principle Engineer of FDL Consult Inc. and FDL Construct. Having spent more than 25 years in the industry, he is attained a myriad of skills set which he uses as the situation requires .

The first, and most obvious, is his technical expertise. His abilities as an engineer have allowed him to work on a wide range of projects, where he has shown his skills as a project manager, contract negotiator and manager, cost estimator and business advisor, alongside his engineering talents. He also continually remain current with the best practices through attendance at workshops, conferences and short courses

Gilbert Fontenard is also a very experienced manager, both on-site and in terms of his businesses. He is capable of communicating effectively with people at all levels of the project cycle and understands the importance of using relevant language and staying concise when in discussions with key stakeholders and site foremen. He began honing his management skills in the mid-1990s and is now established as a successful professional who can be relied upon to provide the standard of work that clients require.

His level of service has always been second to none, which is why he has had such direct involvement in such a wide range of projects during his career, including highway designs and a range of consultancies. He dedicates himself to providing quality in everything that he does, again building trust with his clients.

Today, Gilbert Fontenard continues to act as the Managing Director for FDL Consult Inc. and FDL Construct, offering his vast experience and quality services to a wide range of clients in both the public and private sectors.
