Every passing day we wake up to the news of new technologies entering the market. But as a layman it is often difficult to understand the crux of these services much less take full advantage of it. One such technology is Revit BIM Services, I am expecting just like many others you too have heard about this technology for the very first time. Well then read on and let’s understand all about Revit BIM Services:

What is Revit BIM Services?

Autodesk Revit is Building Information Modeling (BIM) software for Microsoft Windows, the innovative software built by Revit allows the users to design with parametric modeling and design elements.

In other words, a BIM model essentially contains a building’s full life-cycle starting from concept to construction to decommissioning. This innovation has been made possible by Revit’s underlying database architecture which its creators call the parametric change engine.

Interesting, but how do Revit BIM services work?

Let’s understand the entire Revit BIM Services working step-by-step

Revit buildings are always fully coordinated in terms of the objects shown in the drawings.

Initially, the base building is drawn using 3D rendering services to create walls, roofs, doors and all the external parts of the building as needed. Usually, users can create their own 3D and 2D objects for modeling. But, if a certain component of the design is going to be seen in more than one view than it will be created using a 3D object only. While small scale views of building components may be created using both 3D and 2D drafting objects.

The project file so created is stored in a project database and is accessible to multiple users. These users can make changes to the stored file, and Revit prevents one user from doing changes in the file while another user is still working on it. This prevents duplication in the file. Revit also occasionally runs interference checking, which allows it to check if multiple components of the building such as the playground, house or lawn are occupying the same physical space.

Finally, whether there are 2D modeling objects or 3D these are saved in .RFA files which are family-friendly. A family does not have to be an architect or programmer to access these files and make changes as per their needs.
