Mit FRITZ!OS 7 können nun weitere FRITZ!Box-Geräte als Mesh-Repeater eingesetzt werden als bisher. Erstmals sind auch Telefonie- und Smart Home-Geräte von AVM mesh-fähig. So lassen sich beispielsweise mehr DECT-Smart-Home-Geräte erreichen (Smart Home Mesh).Die Einbindung der Mesh-Repeater ins Heimnetz funktioniert per Knopfdruck. Einmal eingebunden, können alle Einstellungen für WLAN Mesh und Telefonie Mesh an der zentralen FRITZ!Box vorgenommen werden. Alle Einstellungen finden sich unter dem Menüpunkt „Mesh“. Hier hat AVM die grafische Mesh-Übersicht um Angaben zur Verbindungsqualität von schnurloser Telefonie erweitert. Außerdem werden unter diesem Punkt zentral alle Update-Informationen zu den FRITZ!-Produkten im Heimnetz angezeigt. Sofern Du automatische Updates in der FRITZ!Box aktiviert hast, werden mit dem Update auf FRITZ!OS 7 nun auch FRITZ!WLAN Repeater und Powerline-Produkte im Mesh automatisch aktualisiert.

Fans von Smart Home dürfen sich beim neuen FRITZ!OS 7 darüber freuen, dass neben FRITZ!DECT-Produkten nun auch Geräte anderer Hersteller an der FRITZ!Box eingesetzt werden können. Denn neben DECT ULE wird nun ein weiterer Funkstandard im Bereich Smart Home unterstützt – HAN-FUN. Dieser wird beispielsweise von der Deutschen Telekom für ihre Smart Home-Produkte wie Wandtaster, Tür-Fenster-Kontakte und Bewegungsmelder genutzt. In Verbindung mit AVMs intelligenten Steckdosen FRITZ!DECT 200/210 können nun verschiedene Einsatzszenarien realisiert werden. Ausprobiert wurde die Neuerung bereits vorab zum Release des FRITZOS 7 in einem FRITZ!Labor.

Auch für Besitzer eines FRITZ!Fons hat AVM Neuerungen parat, die mit FRITZ!OS 7 ausgeliefert werden. Mit dem Update werden beispielsweise Orts- oder Ländernamen im Display des FRITZ!Fon angezeigt. Es gibt eine neue Zeitsteuerung für Rufumleitungen, mit der Anwender flexibel festlegen können, ob und wann bestimmte Rufumleitungen aktiv sind. Außerdem können sie bis zu fünf eigene Klingeltöne für die Telefone hinzufügen. Weiterhin wurde auch das Schalten des WLAN-Gastzugangs oder von Smart-Home-Geräten über das FRITZ!Fon erweitert. Wer dabei mehr Sicherheit wünscht, kann einen PIN für diese Einstellungen festlegen. Selbst die FRITZ!Box lässt sich nun mit wenigen Klicks direkt über das FRITZ!Fon updaten.
