The Courier Route for E-Commerce Jewellery Exports Has Taken Off - GemAdda

13th June 2022, Uttar Pradesh: The Finance Ministry has developed a draught Standard Operating Procedure (SoP) for enabling e-commerce jewellery exports via courier, as announced by Hon'ble Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman in the 2022-23 budget. The goal is to create a more straightforward regulatory environment for makers and traders who want to sell jewellery online.

The new rule would only allow jewellery export by courier after receiving full payment and pictures of the exported jewellery.

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has requested feedback and suggestions from stakeholders by June 14, 2022, prior to the implementation of the SOP of a simplified regulatory framework to make it easier to export precious metals and fake jewellery via e-commerce and courier.

The CBIC has also proposed revising the Courier Imports and Exports (Electronic Declaration and Processing) Regulations, 2010, and related forms, as well as issuing a notification setting out the conditions for reimporting returned jewellery and has sought input from stakeholders.
