There is no shortage of social welfare providers in India. There are several clubs and other not for profit organizations which have made a highly positive impact on the society. The non profit organizations community reaches out to help anyone and everyone across the country that is in need of help. The number of volunteers who have signed up to various not for profit social welfare organizations runs into lakhs. They are always ready to help the people in need and even reach out to them even if they are in the remotest of locations.

The organizations are generally the first to react whenever a natural disaster strikes at any part of the country. India receives millions of rupees from these organizations for thousands of welfare projects and programs. The services that these welfare organizations provide can broadly be classified into Education and Learning, Economic Independence and Social Integration, Medical Assistance, Impacting the Environment and Other Humanitarian Projects. The welfare organizations believe that if a man or a woman wants to have complete control over their lives, it is important for them to have financial independence. It is the prime prerequisite for any man or woman to enable them to make their own choices in life. The social welfare providers in India work towards achieving this goal by increasing opportunities for women to contribute to the workforce by utilizing their skills. The organizations assist in developing a productive and competitive economy. The organization aims at women empowerment by letting them participate in paid employment and thus improving their lives.

With the implementation of Right to Education Act in 2009 in India, schooling for children between the ages of 6 to 14 is free and compulsory. However, the reality is something else. Education in the people from the lower category is mostly gender biased. The welfare organizations have taken up the task of taking education to the rural areas and enabling education for both boys and girls for a better tomorrow. The welfare communities distribute notebooks and other study material to the underprivileged children of the rural areas. The people from rural areas also do not have medical facilities when compared to the people from the city. There is an urgent need for medical assistance in the rural areas. The welfare organizations offer medical assistance to the people from the rural areas and also have established several hospitals in some rural areas in India. Efforts are on to establish more and more hospitals in the rural areas in the future.
