When old-fashioned mobile phones are replaced by the contemporary ones, batteries are also included on the improvement.

Nickel Cadmium

This battery consists of nickel oxide hydroxide and metallic cadmium. It is a rechargeable battery and was first developed and used in the 1800’s. This is a type of battery that is used not only for mobile phones but for cameras, portable tools and other electronic devices. When using a charging station, these batteries need to be fully discharged before charging or it may cause significant damage on the life and performance of the battery. The content of the batteries are also harmful to the environment thus proper disposal is a must. This battery also suffers from memory effect which is losing the maximum energy when partial discharging is constantly done.

Nickel Metal Hybrid

This battery is based on Nickel Cadmium type but without the cadmium content. It is made of environment-friendly materials and non-toxic contents. Although it is safer than the other Nickel battery, the performance is the same and to ensure long time use, it is recommended to fully discharge the battery first before placing it on a charging station.

Lithium Polymer

This battery is considered the most advanced battery for a mobile phone which is lightweight and memory effect is not observed. This battery can also be made to any shape and size that would fit on a mobile phone. Like most mobile phones today that are thin and uses USB charging station, this battery is often used. Though it is the most advanced battery, there are still precautions in charging like avoiding the battery to be overly charged as it may cause explosion.
Lithium Ion

This kind of battery is widely-used since it is not only advanced but environment-friendly as well. It contains non-toxic materials and has no memory effect. It is also popularly used my mobile phone makers because of it is lightweight and can be shaped to any size. This is mostly seen on highly developed mobile phones using USB charging station and this kind of battery is considered expensive.
