Future Electronics recently recognized Larry Hall, who celebrated 25 years of service at the end of May 2023. Larry has worked as an Advanced Engineer since he began his career with Future Electronics. He has a degree in Electronics Engineering and prior to joining the world of distribution, worked as a design engineer for several years.

When asked what has changed in his 25 years with the company, Larry said: “We sent paper registration requests to representatives and suppliers via a fax machine that used a landline phone connection. We kept the copies of those registrations in a 3-ring notebook in the branch for the local Product Manager to use for quotes. We ordered printed data books from the manufacturer and hand-delivered them to customers - sometimes they even helped keep your car going in the winter snow. We used a “mobile” phone that came in a small bag about the size of a thick college textbook to make mobile calls - otherwise, we used a pay phone or pager to communicate with others.”

Despite all the changes, Larry said many things remain the same to this day. “Our business is a people business and we assist customers in selecting the appropriate parts for their design, helping them with the necessary technical information required to complete the design, finding technical help when things are not working as expected, acquiring development tools for hardware and software design, and managing the supply chain for the manufacturing of their product,” he said. “Many things have changed, but the desire to help customers make great products and all that is needed to accomplish that process is still the same”.

Outside of work, Larry enjoys amateur “ham” radio, spending time with his family and grandchildren, playing pickleball, and working in the yard and garden.

“Thank you to all who have helped me learn and grow in the business. It has been a great 25 years,” said Larry.
