Friedberg was initially hired to do personal injury work for the firm; however, she soon became responsible for almost all of the matrimonial and family law cases for the firm when the direction of where her natural talents and desires ran became clear.

In 1996, Frances L. Friedberg formed a partnership with Lisa K. Schoonmaker, founding a matrimonial and family law practice known as Schoonmaker & Friedberg, LLP. In 2000, Lisa K. Schoonmaker left the practice of law, and Frances L. Friedberg took over the business, creating the current law practice known as The Law Office of Frances L. Friedberg, Esq. Frances L. Friedberg has been a sole practitioner since the year 2000. Her law practice has been, and continues to be, exclusively devoted to matrimonial and family law.
