A long weekend or holiday rolls around but you haven’t had the time to plan for anything. While everyone is off on their holiday, you don’t have to stay at home and mope around. Sometimes the best things happen when you go on a spontaneous trip. Here are some places you can go that won’t cost too much money or time!


1. Kuala Selangor
About an hour’s drive away from KL, Kuala Selangor is known for being the go-to place for a seafood feast without having to travel to the seaside! Take a day trip to Kuala Selangor and visit the Sky Mirror. The blue skies can be seen reflected clearly on the giant sandbar of Sasaran Beach. Make sure to snap lots of goofy photos!

Come nighttime, the best way to spend your time in Kuala Selangor is to go for a fireflies night cruise after a seafood dinner. In this quiet and calm part of the town, watch the twinkling bugs surround you and if you’re lucky you might catch a glimpse of a rare silvered leaf monkey too.

2. Sekinchan
A bit further than Kuala Selangor is the town of Sekinchan, home to fishing villages and a vast expanse of paddy fields. The old town charm of Sekinchan and picturesque scenery promises an easygoing and laidback day out.

Take a day trip to Sekinchan and run through the fields and feel the wind in your face. Visit the Nan Tian Temple, a local Buddhist complex known for its sweeping of Sekinchan’s luscious rice fields, changing colours every few months.
