The issues with Clubs described above are major disincentives to playing. Clubs can be superb but all too often it is not.All too often you sit there wondering why you are struggling to beat a bunch of idiots who either don’t know how to play football or don’t care to. Wondering why you are playing against a literal bunch of clowns with blue, green, or white afros, racist names, who celebrate every goal like a circus troupe. My club has kept playing ‘til this stage of the year, but many more have disbanded long ago.There is no reason why Clubs has to be like this.

No reason why it has to be FIFA’s own den of iniquity, no reason why it should be a mode beholden to the worst of FIFA’s community. If EA can change that, I am sure they will have yet another huge and highly popular mode on their hands.Making it easy...One major factor which holds back Clubs popularity is that playing Clubs is pretty inconvenient. You need a club to play with, and you need a significant number of them to be online to make it worth playing. Every other mode in FIFA doesn’t have this problem - you can play whenever you like without any issues.So making Clubs more convenient to play, and making it possible to play more of the time, should be a key goal for EA.

Working on Drop in Matches would be a great start. As Tom’s series of videos attests, Drop In Matches really are FIFA’s cesspool, full of boosters, griefers, and players more selfish than is quite believable.A handful of features could ease the situation greatly. A lot of people want to play together in Drop In Matches, and this can be facilitated with a party system. Very often people end up out of position because most people like playing in attack - and this could be helped by matchmaking on the basis of positional preference. It’s better to have a game where everyone is content with where they are playing than one where the entire back line is in disarray.
